Hunger For Forgiveness

Description

This piece has to do with the suffering associated with guilt and sin.
The bird on the ground before him is a dove, which is widely recognized as a symbol of peace; in this case, the frail little creature symbolizes inner peace and purity.
The arrow represents sin, and notice there is only one; this is because it only takes but a single sin to stain a soul, and there is no changing it after it's been done. Once a sinner, always a sinner.

The human-like figure is there to show of course the person whose inner peace has been lost.
The detested outcast shies away from eyes of those so bold as to call themselves innocent, hiding deep within them self so that none may see the ugly beast they truly are.

Starved of redemption and ridden with sorrows and guilt, the person slowly begins to lose their integrity.
No one can feed them the forgiveness they hunger so greatly for, because the truth is not permitted to be spoken aloud.

Though this does not represent a specific person, and though the dreadfully skinny figure was drawn to be MALE, I had myself and my own sins in mind as I was composing this piece.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you didn’t take the time to read this, I hate choo.

Charcoal and chalk on watercolor paper.

oh I love the concept. You really captured the rigged movement of the subject and the dramatic contract emphasizes the painful feeling of the piece overall. Very nice job!
